Is Georgia One Of The States With The Fewest COVID-19 Restrictions?

It’s been nearly a year since the COVID-19 pandemic started in the U.S., and many people and businesses are still making do with the restrictions and guidelines in place.

But those restrictions vary, depending on where you live.

WalletHub, a personal finance site, released its rankings of the states with the fewest coronavirus restrictions on Tuesday (January 26).

“While many more businesses are open now than were open a few months ago, and few states still have stay-at-home orders, the U.S. still has a ways to go to get to a full reopening. That won’t occur until we achieve widespread vaccination and curb the coronavirus pandemic,” WalletHub’s report reads. “In the meantime, some states have put a temporary pause on moving to the next stage of reopening, or have even reversed course and closed certain businesses again due to surges in COVID-19 transmission.”

WalletHub examined 14 “key metrics” to rank each state and D.C., including whether restaurants are open, whether face masks are required in public, whether temperature screenings are required in the workplace and others.

So, where does Georgia rank?

Georgia comes in at No. 18.

That’s down 5 spots from October 6, 2020, when Georgia came in at No. 13.

These are the top 10 states with the fewest COVID-19 restrictions:

  1. Oklahoma
  2. South Dakota
  3. Iowa
  4. Arkansas
  5. Florida
  6. Utah
  7. Missouri
  8. Wisconsin
  9. Alaska
