These Two Georgia Cities Are Among The Best For STEM Job Opportunities

Pandemic or not, it’s no secret that STEM employees are in high demand and that those jobs offer higher salaries than most.

But as it turns out, some cities are better for STEM opportunities — Science, Technology, Engineering and Math — than others.

That’s why WalletHub, a personal finance site, ranked the best and worst metro areas for STEM professionals.

Not only are STEM jobs high-paying and demanding workers, STEM jobs are also expected to grow at more than twice the rate of other professions between 2019 and 2029, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows.

“Given their growing demand, STEM careers today provide some of the most lucrative employment opportunities. They pay higher salaries and boast far fewer threats of unemployment compared with other types of jobs,” WalletHub’s report reads. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, STEM jobs have been more resilient against job losses and more compatible with remote work compared to many other job types.”

WalletHub analyzed 20 “key metrics” to compare the 100 largest metro areas in the U.S. Metrics include per capita job openings and median wage growth.

Two Georgia cities are among the best in the U.S. for STEM job opportunities.

Here are the two cities and how they rank:

  • No. 3: Atlanta, GA
  • No. 65: Augusta, GA
