A Texas infant was mauled to death by a family dog.

According to PEOPLE, authorities responded to a call of a dog attack at an apartment complex in Baytown, Texas on Tuesday (April 1).

Social media users identified the victim as six-month-old Kyomi Temple. A GoFundMe campaign was launched in the wake of the infant's death.

"It is with a heavy heart we share the devastating loss of our precious Kyomi Temple, who was taken away too soon at just 6 months old," the GoFundMe page reads. "As we grieve, we are faced with unexpected funeral expenses and time away from work as we mourn. We are humbly asking for any support you can offer—whether through a donation or simply sharing this fundraiser."

The Baytown Police Department launched an investigation into the mauling. No arrests have been made, and charges haven't been filed. According to Jason Calder, Baytown's public information officer, Animal Services responded to the scene and removed two dogs from the apartment.

Both of the dogs were male pit bull mixes. Animal services workers identified which dog was involved in the attack. The attack dog is set to be euthanized per a city ordinance.
