A viral video shows a Colorado landlord faking an assault after storming into a Black woman's home.
In a Facebook post, Vontese Wines shared the video of her confrontation with her landlord, Lisa Anderson, who appeared to randomly collapse on the floor before falsely claiming that the tenant had attacked her.
The two women appeared to be arguing as Anderson began to claim that Wines was "choking her." The landlord then dropped to the floor unprompted, alleging that Wines was "hurting" her.
“Oh my god, she’s choking me!” the landlord said. “Oh my god, she’s hurting me! Oh my head!”
As she continued to groan in alleged pain, Anderson asked someone off-camera to call the police and start recording her. At no point did Wines appear to make physical contact with the landlord.
“She’s pushing me!” the landlord said. “She’s a psycho … Oh my god, she’s hurting me so bad, I’m gonna press charges against her.”
Wines' son filmed the entire encounter, catching the moment when Anderson faked her collapse.
In an interview with CBS Colorado, Wines said the confrontation began after Anderson barged into her home on March 1 to serve her an eviction notice. Wines said her lease states that she has until noon on the first day of the month to pay rent. However, Anderson would allegedly text Wines a few days before rent was due, asking for payment.
The situation escalated on March 1 when Anderson showed up to Wines' home with a locksmith and an eviction notice.
“It wasn’t even 12:15 yet, and she showed up with the notice. I kind of thought she was trying to intimidate me because she had been texting me a lot prior,” Wines said. “I was completely shocked.”
Doorbell camera footage showed Wines accompanying the locksmith as he drilled at her front door. Wines alleged that Anderson never allowed her to pay a late fee before trying to change her locks.
“I knew at that point I was going to need to move,” Wines said.
Wines noted that she and her son moved out of the townhome and have settled into a new home where they feel safe.
