Have you ever dined at the oldest restaurant in Georgia?

Restaurants open and close all the time but there are some that have lingered for decades, the establishments that have created a lasting legacy in some fashion, whether through charming decor, laid-back atmosphere or simply good food and service.

Using reviews, awards and accolades as well as first-hand experience, LoveFood compiled a list of the "oldest restaurant" in each state that is "worth seeking out and still serves great food." These are the establishments that have stood the test of time and have continued to draw in diners who return again and again to explore what the eatery has to offer.

According to the site, two "classic" restaurants in Georgia were named the oldest in the state: The Pirate's House in Savannah and The Plaza Restaurant in Thomasville.

The Pirate's House was said to have been "a hangout for pirates and sailors when it opened in 1753" given its close proximity to the nearby Savannah River. The decor reflects its history with "nautical memorabilia livening up the interior" that pairs well with its seafood "delicacies."

The Plaza Restaurant was described as "delighting the folks of southwestern Georgia for more than a century" since opening in 1916, serving up a wide range of menu options from classic meat and seafood to Italian and Greek offerings.
