A Michigan woman has issued an apology after getting kicked out of a virtual court hearing for making a peanut butter sandwich during her call with a judge.

According to CBS News, Asja Outerbridge was attending a hearing for a misdemeanor charge in Detroit's 36th District Court via Zoom when Judge Sean Perkins caught her spreading peanut butter on a slice of bread.

Perkins asked Outerbridge, who was late to the call, to put the food down.

“Put whatever you are trying to prepare down,” Perkins said.

The judge also asked Outerbridge to get “properly dressed," to which she responded that she was.

“Is that a robe?” Perkins asked.

Outerbridge said she was trying to feed her daughter.

“My daughter is sick I had to keep her home from school I’m just trying to feed her. That is it," she said.

“I am sorry that your daughter is sick but again you are in court, and we are going to treat it as such.” Perkins replied.

After being kicked off the call, Outerbridge told CBS News that she "definitely was wrong.”

“I could have came dressed better and more prepared, and I don't want to judge to think that I'm laughing at the situation at him because I'm not. I take that very seriously, I do genuinely, with a serious face, apologize to the judge," she said.

"I'm a personal stylist, so I know how to present myself, but that day, you know, it's hard for moms out here. I'm not gonna lie. I took that transition of what you wear to court, and I will show different outfits you could wear to court, how you can present yourself, and how you cannot be caught lacking in a robe, making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. You don't want to do that."
