The White House is embracing President Donald Trump's "daddy" label with the help of one of Usher's hit songs.
On Wednesday (June 26), the official White House account took to X to share a video of Trump arriving at the NATO Summit. The video montage of Trump's NATO return featured Usher's 2010 hit "Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)."
“🎶 Daddy’s home… Hey, hey, hey, Daddy,” the White House captioned the video, referencing Usher's lyrics.
The caption also served as a callback to when NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte referred to Trump as “daddy” during their bilateral meeting earlier that day.
The president was discussing the Israel-Iran ceasefire with Rutte before the secretary-general dropped the label.
“You know, they fight like hell. You can’t stop them. Let them fight for about two-three minutes, then it’s easy to stop them,” Trump said, to which Rutte responded, “Daddy has to sometimes use strong language to get them to stop.”
“You have to use strong language,” Trump agreed. “Every so often, you have to use a certain word.”
Later at a press conference, Trump embraced the "daddy" moniker.
“No, [Rutte] likes me. I think he likes me. If he doesn’t, I’ll let you know. I’ll come back and I’ll hit him hard, OK? He did it very affectionately, ‘Daddy, you’re my Daddy,’” Trump said.
When asked about his comment, Rutte said Trump was a "good friend" and his language was just a matter of personal taste.
“I think he deserves all the praise,” Rutte added of Trump pushing for a ceasefire.
