So You Think You Can Dance star Joshua Allen has died, per TMZ. He was 36.

On Tuesday (September 30), Allen, who won Season 4 of the hit FOX dance competition, died at a hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. A family member told TMZ that Allen was hit by a train before being transported to the hospital.

Allen's official cause of death is still pending. His family asked for "privacy and prayers" as they mourn the loss.

Allen rose to fame in 2008 when he won Season 4 of SYTYCD, beating out runner-up Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who later became a judge on the show and died by suicide in 2022.

Emmanuel Hurd, Allen’s friend and choreographer, paid tribute to him in an Instagram post on Tuesday, calling him “one of the realest people I ever met.”

“Can’t wrap my head around this… Josh… my brotha. There are no words,” Hurd wrote. “Kept it a stack every time and would make it right if you fell short. A real King. This one hurts deep.”

“He’s with Stephen now, and that brings me comfort," Hurd added.

Following his win on SYTYCD, Allen appeared in several major projects, including Step Up 3D, the 2011 remake of Footloose, and an episode of American Horror Story.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding Allen's death remains ongoing.

“What stood out most about Joshua was his heart," Allen's representative, Christina Price, told the Los Angeles Times. “He had a natural gift for movement — no formal training, yet he could watch something once and his body just knew how to do it. Beyond his talent, he gave back, teaching kids in Texas through dance workshops.”
