A Black Georgia family confronted the white parents of a child they say repeatedly called their daughter the N-word on a school bus, and video of the encounter is drawing attention online.
The Black parents said their daughter told them a white classmate had repeatedly used the racial slur against her on the school bus. The family said they also had video evidence of the alleged bullying.
The parents then went to the other child’s home to address the situation.
“From what we was told, our kids don’t give the bus driver a problem,” the Black mother can be heard saying to the white mother. “They actually were bus monitors last year when they first started. This year I don’t know about them being a bus monitor.”
She went on to say that she was aware of her child calling her Black daughter a “n***** monkey.”
In the video, the Black girl’s father, who originally posted the video and goes by @93.records on social media, tells the other mother, “This ain’t the first time it’s happened.”
In the post of the video to social media, the father wrote in the caption: “So The same kid called my child a Ninja Monkey Again!!! We pulled up”
“We told her to defend herself,” he can be heard saying to the white mother in the video.
She responds, “I told mine as well.”
The exchange does not appear to result in an apology.
The woman, who was with several of her children, suggested that the families address the situation with the school’s principal the following day.
The family also said the alleged behavior continued after the confrontation. Atlanta Black Star reported that one of the children used the racial slur again as the Black family was leaving the property.
The family's account of what happened at the school emerged in a separate Instagram post from the girl's aunt the following day, the Atlanta Black Star reported. She alleged that a school official dismissed her brother's concerns, telling him that the community knew the other family used the slur and asking whether he knew where he was living.
